I decided to do a detox for a few days to get me back into healthy eating habits after Christmas... It isn't so much Christmas Day itself that gets me- usually that turns out to be a fairly healthy day with meat and salad... What gets me is the month of treats in the lead-up to the day! Mince pies, shortbread, my famous choc chip cookies, etc etc etc... That's where I feel my jeans getting tighter!
So yesterday I began a detox (of my own invention) based on veggie juices, raw fruits and veggies, healthy veggie soup, raw nuts and brown rice. I plan to do it for a few days to a week. I'll see how I feel. Yesterday I got the classic 3pm "I need caffeine now!" headache but persevered and have felt good all day today.
My meals yesterday looked like this;
Upon waking- warm water with lemon juice
Breakky- apple, carrot, celery, silverbeet and ginger juice
Morning tea- 1 big apple
Lunch- A big crunchy salad with chickpea and lentil sprouts
Afternoon tea- 2 plums, some grapes and a large handful of almonds plus peppermint tea
Dinner- Lentil, pumpkin and sweet potato soup
After dinner- chamomile tea
Breakky- same juice as yesterday
Morning tea- peppermint tea, a banana and a peach
Lunch- Salad with chickpeas, avocado and lemon juice dressing
Afternoon tea- raw cashews more peppermint tea
Dinner- will be baked brown rice risotto with lots of veggies (minus the parmesan) and lots of herbs and spices for flavour
Tomorrow is Molly's 2nd Birthday! I know I can't believe it either! We are having a tea party and I am making beautiful butterfly cakes and iced tea for all her friends to enjoy! I am also making fruit skewers and mini home made spinach and fetta pizzas. I am sure we will have a wondeful time!
